September 1st, 2008 - Driveway Butte

Who: Andreas, Christina and Jojo
Comments: 8 miles round trip with 3000 feet gain. Doesn't sound too bad, until you realize that the the hike is flat for about 2.5 miles in the middle and ends around 6000 feet. :) Very nice view from the butte though!

August 31st, 2008 - Cutthroat Lake

Who: Andreas, Christina and Jojo
Comments: Just a short leg stretcher, about 4 miles round trip.

August 30th, 2008 - Silver Lake

Who: Andreas, Christina and Jojo
Comments: Remake of a hike we did 2 years ago. No forest fires and much colder this time. It was 41 degrees F when we stepped out of the car and we actually saw some snow during the hike. It was so cold we actually looked forward to the steep incline out from the lake!

August 23rd, 2008 - Frozen Finger Pass

Who: Andreas, Christina and Jojo
Comments: Wow, what a nice and long (14.5 miles, ~23 km) hike! Weather was beautiful, with sun and temperature in the 75s. Quite a bit of elevation gain, the hikes started at 2100 feet and the pass is at 5200 feet. The pass had a very nice view of Pear Lake below it, but unfortunately the mosquitoes made sure we could not stay long to enjoy it.

January 1st to August 1st, 2008 - Various

Who: Andreas, Christina, Jojo, Simba, MAgnus, Carina and Grandma!
Comments: Well, since we fell behind on updates, we can't really remember all the hikes we did, but, some of them were:
* Noble Knob. Nice re-hike with Christina's parents and grandmother.
* Hester Lake. Too much water in the run-offs from the lake, so we had to turn and go to Myrtle lake instead.
* Bear Ridge (Tiger Mountain). Short, get-started again hike.
* Pratt Lake. Too much snow, had to turn when the trail disappeared.

October 13th, 2007 - Johnson Ridge #2

Who: Andreas, Christina, Jojo and Simba
Comments: No snow this time! Actually, almost no snow, minor patches at the end of the trail. Another really good hike along this trail. More people this time, but still fairly quiet. The fall colors were wonderful, with most of the landscape turning yellow / orange / red.

September 2nd, 2007 - Windy Pass and beyond

Who: Andreas, Christina and Jojo
Comments: This hike was also along the PCT, but we started from Harts Pass and went north. We hiked about a mile past Windy Pass making the roundtrip about 11 miles. The turn-around point was a ridge just to the east of Tamarack Peak. Again, the trail stayed quite flat, with the biggest altitude difference being between Harts Pass and the second trailhead just before Slate Peak. Weather was nice but a bit cloudy.

September 1st, 2007 - Grasshopper Pass and beyond

Who: Andreas, Christina and Jojo
Comments: The hike started at the Meadows campground trailhead. We followed the PCT south past Grasshopper Pass to an unnamed peak at 7125 feet where we turned back. It ended being about 9 miles roundtrip. The trail stayed around 6600 feet, making it fairly flat. The weather was really nice with sun and a bit of wind.

August 25th, 2007 - Silver Peak

Who: Andreas, Christina, Jojo and Simba
Comments: After a long hiking break we finally made it back out. Silver Peak is a hike we've done before, but couldn't find the last part of the trail leading to the top. Weather was so-so, with low clouds at the top of Silver Peak. Still, the hike was very nice and Simba did really well.

June 2nd, 2007 - Johnson Ridge

Who: Andreas, Christina and Jojo
Comments: Wow! What a wonderful hike! Not a soul on the trail, except for us of course. Conditions were great, with sun, perfect temperature and zero to about six feet of snow. The snow was hard except for a an inch or two of slush on top, which made for great walking conditions. Nice views, hard (but not too hard) trail and all-in-all just a great day. Pictures from the hike are here.

May 25th, 2007 - Lake Serene

Who: Andreas, Christina and Jojo
Comments: We all had taken the day off from work so we could hike this busy trail on a weekday. This was the second time we tried this hike, first time we had to turn around since the snow was way too deep. We finished it in about 4 hours. Still snow and ice up at the lake itself, but the trail was clear. Pictures will be online soon.
Update: Pictures are now online, here!

February 3rd, 2007 - Annette Lake

Who: Andreas, Adrian, Christina and Jojo
Comments: Ice, ice and more ice. We only had one pair of cramp-ons with us, which Christina used. The snow around the lake was mostly untouched, so it made for a nice view while we downed some sandwiches and hot chocolate. All in all it was a very good hike.

January 28th, 2007 - Granite Mountain

Who: Andreas and Adrian
Comments: Wonderful weather! Quite tough hike since the snow turned to ice about 3/4 up. Realized it is time to buy cramp-ons. Wind picked up quite a bit as well. The hike took slightly more than 4 hours round trip (including a well deserved rest at the lookout). We got an early start, which was good since we met quite a few people on the way down. Pictures from the hike are here!

January 27th, 2007 - Mount Si

Who: Christina, Adrian and Jojo
Comments: Made it to the top in 2 hours and 44 seconds. Christina is very proud and she should be! Next time she will carry a bit more weight for conditioning. Jojo was extremely good on the trail, very obedient. Weather was great with some wind on the peak.
